Opening of a multimodal hub at Trilogiport, Oupeye

Weerts Group is successfully completing the construction of a multimodal logistics hub of 90,000 sqm at the Trilogiport site in Oupeye, located in the wider Liège region, a stone’s throw from Maastricht. The site, which was given the project name “Weerts Logistic Park III”, consists of a fully automated cold storage of 20,000 m² and standard storage areas of 70,000 m². The site is fully let to Weerts Supply Chain.

A site with a lot of potential

Trilogiport is a unique site for logistics activities, located on a concession site of ‘Le Port Autonome de Liège’: it offers access to 3 sea ports (Antwerp, Rotterdam and Dunkirk), via 3 transport arteries (water, rail and highway) and has 3 neighboring countries within reach (the Netherlands, Germany and France). The site is located between the Albert Canal and a train track, a stone’s throw from the A25, E313 and E42 motorways, and barely 20 km from Liège cargo airport. The DP World container terminal, located just next to the site, allows very easy freight traffic via waterways. The cargo airport of Liège has developed into a strong logistics player in recent years, becoming the number one cargo airport in Belgium and the sixth in Europe.

In the near future, this platform should develop into a real “logistics village” in the center of Europe.

Two buildings

About a quarter of the built surface (approx. 20,000 sqm) consists of a fully automated storage space with a mix of frozen and refrigerated halls, which offers storage options at various temperatures, ranging from + 4 ° C to -20 ° C. This building was completed this month. The other building offers standard storage options, with a surface of approximately 70,000 sqm, of which 40,000 sqm was completed this month, and 30,000 sqm will be completed in mid-2021.

Both buildings will house offices and social areas (including reception areas, meeting rooms, etc.).

Sustainability

With this site, Weerts Group is taking another step further in its pursuit of sustainable development by making the full range of multimodal transport possible for its customers-tenants.

Furthermore, the roof of the building will be fitted with solar panels, which will provide a production capacity of approx. 8 MWp. The production of the building will exceed its own needs, thus contributing to the compensation of the CO2 impact of the entire activities of the Weerts Group.

Be part of our future

Weerts Group’s main goal is the creation of value for its stakeholders in a sustainable manner. It has ambitious growth plans and aims to build great enterprises for generations to come. To realize our mission and show us the way forward, we want to hire the best.
